Front Passenger's Airbag Removal and Installation

NOTE: If replacing the front passenger's airbag after deployment, refer to Component Replacement/Inspection After Deployment for a complete list of other parts that must also be replaced.

Removal Before Front Passenger's Airbag Deployment


NOTE: Wait at least 3 minutes before starting work.

4. Front Passenger's Airbag - Remove
1.
With knee bolster: Remove the special bolt (A) and the mounting bolts (B), then remove the bracket (C).





2.
Disconnect the connector (A).
3.
Remove the mounting bolts (B).
4.
Release the hooks (C) from the front passenger's airbag housing holes (D) of the dashboard.
NOTE:
When prying with a flat-tip screwdriver, wrap it with protective tape to prevent damage.
Take care not to damage the front passenger's airbag housing holes of the dashboard.
Take care not to damage the front passenger's airbag.
5.
Lower the front passenger's airbag and release the hooks of the engine room side, then remove the airbag from the dashboard.

Removal After Front Passenger's Airbag Deployment


NOTE: Wait at least 3 minutes before starting work.

3. Front Passenger's Airbag/Dashboard - Remove
1.
Disconnect the connector (A).
2.
Remove the mounting bolt (B).

Installation Before Front Passenger's Airbag Deployment

1. Front Passenger's Airbag - Install
1.
Insert the hooks (A) into the front passenger's airbag housing holes (B), then insert the other hooks (C) into the housing holes (D).

NOTE:
Make sure there are no objects between the airbag and the dashboard.
Make sure the airbag is fully seated, and make sure the dashboard is not deformed or damaged after the airbag is in place.
Make sure the hooks are set properly.

Tighten the new mounting bolts (E), (F).
3.
Connect the connector (G).
4.
With knee bolster: Install the bracket (A) with the special bolt (B) and the mounting bolts (C).

2. SRS Operation - Confirm
1.
Do the 12 volt battery terminal reconnection procedure, turn the vehicle to the ON mode, and check that the SRS indicator comes on for about 6 seconds and then goes off.

Installation After Front Passenger's Airbag Deployment

1. Front Passenger's Airbag - Install
1.
Insert the hooks (A) into the front passenger's airbag housing holes (B), then insert the other hooks (C) into the housing holes (D).

2.
Tighten the new mounting bolts (E).
NOTE:
Make sure there are no objects between the airbag and the dashboard.
Make sure the airbag is fully seated, and make sure the dashboard is not deformed or damaged after the airbag is in place.
Make sure the hooks are set properly.
4.
Install the new mounting bolt (A).
5.
Connect the connector (B).

2. SRS Operation - Confirm
1.
Do the 12 volt battery terminal reconnection procedure, turn the vehicle to the ON mode, and check that the SRS indicator comes on for about 6 seconds and then goes off.
