Check the evenness of the height of the diaphragm spring fingers using the clutch alignment disc, the clutch alignment shaft, the remover handle, and a feeler gauge (A). If the height difference is more than the standard, replace the pressure plate.

Install the ring gear holder, the ring gear holder attachment, and the center shaft.

To prevent warping, loosen the pressure plate mounting bolts (A) in a crisscross pattern in several steps, then remove the pressure plate (B).

Inspect the fingers of the diaphragm spring (A) for wear at the release bearing contact area.

Inspect the pressure plate surface (A) for wear, cracks, and burning.

Remove the clutch disc (A) and the center shaft.

Inspect the lining of the clutch disc for signs of slippage or oil. If the clutch disc looks burnt or is oil soaked, replace the clutch disc. If the clutch disc is oil soaked, find and repair the source of the oil leak.

Measure the clutch disc thickness. If the measurement is less than the service limit, replace the clutch disc.

Measure the depth of the rivet from the clutch disc lining surface (A) to the rivets (B) on both sides. If the measurement is less than the service limit, replace the clutch disc.

Inspect the ring gear teeth (A) for wear and damage.

Inspect the clutch disc mating surface (B) on the flywheel for wear, cracks, and burning.

Check the pilot bearing for wear and damage.

Check the inside surface of the pilot bearing with your finger. If the flywheel pilot bearing is not smooth, replace it.

Remove the flywheel pilot bearing (A) using the remover weight, the remover handle, and the 20 mm bearing remover shaft set.

Loosen the flywheel mounting bolts in a crisscross pattern in several steps. Remove the bolts, then remove the flywheel, the the ring gear holder, and the ring gear holder attachment.

Remove the release fork boot (A).

Remove the release fork (B) by squeezing the release fork set spring (C).

Remove the release bearing (D).

Check the play of the release bearing by spinning it by hand. If there is excessive play or noise, replace the release bearing.

NOTE: The release bearing is packed with grease. Do not wash it in solvent.

Install the flywheel (A) on the crankshaft, and install the mounting bolts finger-tight.

Install the ring gear holder and the ring gear holder attachment.

Torque the flywheel mounting bolts (B) in a crisscross pattern in several steps.

Install a new flywheel pilot bearing (A) until it bottoms using the 15 x 135L driver handle and the 37 x 40 mm bearing driver attachment.

Apply super high temp urea grease (P/N 08798-9002) to the splines (A) of the clutch disc (B).

NOTE: Wipe off any excess grease.

Temporarily install the clutch disc onto the splines of the transmission mainshaft. Make sure the clutch disc slides freely on the mainshaft.

Install the clutch disc with facing its surface marked with a print mark (C) to the transmission side using the center shaft as shown.

Install the pressure plate (A) and the pressure plate mounting bolts (B) finger-tight with aligning the point marks (C) across the pressure plate and the flywheel (D) as shown.

Tighten the pressure plate mounting bolts in the numbered sequence shown. Tighten the bolts in several steps to prevent warping the diaphragm spring. Make sure that there is not clearance between the pressure plate and the flywheel.

Remove the ring gear holder attachment, the ring gear holder, and the center shaft.

Make sure the diaphragm spring fingers are all the same height.

Check the release bearing, and replace it if necessary.

Apply super high temp urea grease (P/N 08798-9002) to the release fork (A), the release fork bolt (B), the release bearing (C), and the release bearing guide (D) in the shaded areas.

NOTE:

Set the release fork set spring (E).

With the release fork slide between the release bearing pawls (F), install the release bearing on the mainshaft while inserting the release fork through the hole (G) in the clutch housing.

Align the detent (H) of the release fork with the release fork bolt, then press the detent of the release fork over the release fork bolt squarely.

Install the release fork boot (I). Make sure the boot seals around the release fork and the clutch housing.

Move the release fork (A) right and left to make sure that it fits properly against the release bearing (B) and that the release bearing slides smoothly. Wipe off any excess grease.
